AutoSpec Roaming, the Norway-based EV channel, breaks down the updated Zeekr 007 GT that has just been announced for the Chinese market. The timing is awkward: European customer deliveries of the 800V version of the same car are set to begin this summer.

The China-spec update moves the long-range model to a 900V electrical architecture and replaces the previous battery with a 6C-capable NMC pack that reportedly charges from 10 to 80% in around 10 minutes, down from the 15 to 16 minutes quoted on the current version. That is roughly a 33% improvement in charging speed. Power output also increases significantly: the front induction motor gains 50kW (about 67hp) and the rear permanent magnet motor gains another 50kW, for a combined increase of around 110kW (about 148hp) in AWD. The performance AWD variant now runs 0-100km/h in 2.84 seconds.

European buyers this summer will receive the 800V version. It uses Zeekr's LFP Golden Brick battery with a 5.5C charge rate and peak DC charging of around 400kW, which is still fast by most standards. The standard range version stays on this same battery. The host notes that Zeekr appears to be selling the previous generation to Europe while the updated car is already in Chinese showrooms, which has made owner forums predictably unhappy.

The updated Chinese car also gets a new driver assistance chip and, for the performance-oriented buyers, an FR Line design package similar to Kia's GT Line or BMW's M Sport trim. The standard range rear-wheel-drive model gets a 90% power increase from its rear motor with this update, while the AWD version sees around a 23% boost. The top AWD performance variant is now rated at 784 horsepower.

The host's position is that Zeekr would benefit from synchronizing its market releases rather than selling last-generation tech in Europe at premium prices. Given that European buyers do their research and EV news from China travels instantly through online forums, the gap creates a perception problem even when the 800V car is genuinely competitive in its price bracket.
