Gjeebs spent a week with a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV LT Max Range, the version with a 205 kilowatt hour battery and a 478 mile rating, and came away impressed by the range and unimpressed by the price. The truck as tested reached $95,000, against a Silverado EV range that opens at $55,000. The video's charging test returned 46 minutes and 33 seconds from 10 to 80 percent, adding 323 miles at a peak the host measured at 350 kilowatts. The trim ladder runs from a Custom standard range at 286 miles and 119 kilowatt hours, through an LT extended range at 410 miles and 170 kilowatt hours, up to the truck tested here.

The video's framing is that General Motors reached a 478 mile rating without any battery breakthrough, simply by fitting a very large pack, which the host points out is more than double the 100 kilowatt hour battery in a Tesla Model S. That approach carries a cost beyond the sticker, and the charging test exposes it: even at 350 kilowatts, filling 70 percent of a 205 kilowatt hour battery takes three quarters of an hour. A smaller pack on the same charger would be back on the road sooner. The buyer consideration the video raises but does not fully price out is that the trim below still carries a 410 mile rating, which the host himself calls class leading. We covered a separate Silverado EV range test earlier this month that ran the truck loaded with people, dogs and cargo, and range was not the limiting factor there either.

On the road the video is positive about the truck and mixed on its software. Gjeebs reports covering 249 miles of a Phoenix to Sedona round trip using 292 miles of indicated range, roughly 85 percent of the stated figure, with a 4,000 foot climb accounting for most of the gap. He notes the outbound leg alone consumed 202 miles of range for 126 miles driven, and that the numbers evened out on the way back down. The truck runs Google built in software with no Apple CarPlay, which the host says he did not miss because the native navigation and route planning are good. Super Cruise draws the strongest criticism, described as reliable on some roads and dropping out on others. He also flags the warranty, given in the video as three years or 36,000 miles basic and eight years or 100,000 miles on the battery, shorter than the Tesla and Rivian terms he quotes.

The rest of the truck gets an even hearing. The video highlights a paddle behind the wheel that lets the driver dial in regenerative braking on the fly or coast like a combustion car, heated and cooled seats including a setting that warms only the upper back, a panoramic roof, a heads up display and a 360 degree camera system, though the host calls the side camera image poor for a truck at this price. There is no air suspension, which he says does not hurt the ride. Both the bed and the frunk are described as larger than a Cybertruck's. On charging, the comparison the video draws is with the host's own Rivian R1T, which completed the same 10 to 80 percent test about five minutes quicker but added only 239 miles against the Silverado's 323. The onboard AC charger is rated at 19 kilowatts, which he notes is high but well beyond what most home supplies can deliver.

Bottom line: buy the middle one. The Max Range pack earns its keep if you tow, because towing is the one job where 478 miles turns back into a normal number, but for everyone else it is a lot of battery bought to solve a problem the 410 mile trim already solved. The charging result makes the case by itself: adding 323 miles in 46 minutes is a great deal of range, and it is also 46 minutes. GM built the range champion here. It just priced the wrong version as the hero.
