BYD's second-generation Blade Battery runs on a 1,000-volt architecture and accepts up to 1,500 kilowatts per charging gun. The company says 10 to 70 percent takes five minutes, full charge in nine. To handle the grid load, BYD is deploying 20,000 flash charging stations with on-site battery storage using a station-within-a-station model that slots into existing infrastructure. If the numbers hold in the real world, the charging objection to EVs is basically finished.
